Oracle is developing a new filesystem for GNU / Linux users

Btrfs and called a new filesystem that Oracle is developing under the GPL. Still in very early stage of development and is very functional, which is supposed to change as development goes ahead. This is a list of features that offer when considering stable and goes into production: very large file storage (2 64 maximum file size)

efficiency in storing small files

storage efficiency in the indexed directories

Dynamic allocation of i-nodes
Snapshots modifiable (!)
subvolumens (!)

Mirroring and striping at the object level (!)

Checksums on data and metadata tight integration with the mapper devices to support multiple devices

    hot Checking filesystem
  • very fast filesystem Verification cold
  • efficient incremental backups (!) and FS mirroring
  • It may be a kind of mix to bring ASM to a Linux filesystem, so it makes me think of 'subvolumens' and mirroring and striping at the object level (this makes me drool!). If I am not mistaken, the object-level striping + the + devices support multiple dynamic inode allocation would allow the system itself was able to detect objects that are accessed constantly moving so that the burden of I / O in various devices, hot and transparently.
  • The efficient incremental backups also has a point, because if the filesystem is able to say a priori that is what has changed - and if that means that mark ("bitmaps?) Only blocks that have changed, no the entire file - we will have a dramatic improvement in backup times. If the above is true, I get the feeling that we have a filesystem with touches of what we already have in Oracle database: local management / automatic space MultiDevice subvolumens + + strip of objects (concepts of tablespaces and ASM), backups 'Retailers' (concepts of RMAN?)

  • I will ask to see if I get more info on these features, and'll tell (on ask around with * means Btr)

The truth is that truth does not exist, each has its own truth and this is an indisputable truth!

Young to the extent it is formed, is subject to different "knowledge" and "knowledge" to create some, and in the order in which advanced education, is taking different positions on issues and form their beliefs and visions, which seems perfect ...

What happens is that the world in which we live, we received much information from the mass media, that the individual poses a hasty "visions of life" (as we saw in the article "about us") without discern what there is, of truth and falsity of the that being said, what is ideology and speculation, they are arguments. It is culture, which requires us to accept rules and laws, and never wonder why ...

For example (an extreme case), many people are nude, their reasons are very valid to be compared with people who are not nude and wears only because they all do ... but for example I am not a nudist, because I believe in human existence of "modesty, privacy, discretion, etc." treasures and goods in

depending on the person's life.

is often said that are rude, there is a lack of interest from young people, the education system is failing, and so on. ... this has a degree of truth and say that IGNORANCE is

dominates the world ... but I would say better

that the lack of search for truth

is the worst trend that dominates this society. Many times (including a greater or lesser extent), we think we know

TRUTH, and we become increasingly closed to other opinions. Sometimes we believe things we were told, and told it to turn and said it and so on, it's time to be responsible and put a stop up here arrived!, what is the truth behind this or who told you?, you need evidence, reasons, arguments, explanations, evidence shows that hold your position on the questions. As most information, is loaded with ideology, we believe the best way to take positions mature relates to "issues" is to hear many bells, and more to the contrary ... because we like always listen to it ... For example: if you're in favor of abortion, reads a lot of people who are against ... so that when drawing up your posture, be convincing, and no clashes with "ah that's not what I said or why not what wise. " Obviously, the other way too, if you are against, read the arguments of those who favor well ... To be quite sure, as much as possible, our way of thinking.

But various discussions we put a blindfold on our lack of humility, that is, believe that my position on an issue is the best and the face of evidence that my position is baseless, I roll relativism, we say: "That's your truth," "So you think I think differently ..." Enough of these positions contradictory and misleading (as we saw in the phrase at the beginning of the article), which promote backwardness, mediocrity and stop growth without notice ...

many say "we must be open" is not being closed or open, just to say - you're wrong on this, this and that, no " so I believe you think otherwise, "delve into the questions, do you because you think so? "I think so because this other way?. relativistic positions end up being a reflex to a matter in which layers, you need to reflect and change my mind ... but the pride of the twenty-first century man is not allowed to have the humility to accept that on certain issues we should change our way of thinking. intelligent person who knows is the time to say "no", but does not stop with that "no", but seeking the truth of the matter, (to the extent that the issue concerning his person, course). The intention of this paper is to stop inconsistent relativism and promote a culture where the sincere search for truth is a pillar, a value

immovable ... But Why?

Because, that there is no freedom without truth, that is, if we are given a choice between lies, but we choose, not knowing the truth end up choosing trap "and our position that this ends up being wrong. In short we manipulated ...

We are young people who seek the truth of matters, (but not why we are free from error), and we invite you to form when a Ideally, a project

your convictions of life, your scale of values, analyze it in your positions and look serious reasons to be as you are above all seeking truth ...!

"Falsehood is never so false as when it is almost almost true. "GK Chesterton

"

The misfortune of the man of today is not believing in nothing, but, quite the contrary , believe it all. "

Chesterton, writer

English . "The wise man knows that ignored". Confucius ( 551 - 479 to . C.) Chinese philosopher.

"There is more ignorant than he who believes not ignore anything,"

" The ignorant says, the wise question and think " Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC ) Greek philosopher.

"The truth is what it is, and remains true even if one thinks the other way around. "Antonio Machado (1875-1939) English poet and prose writer.
